Ine Van Hoyweghen is a sociologist. She earned her PhD in social sciences in 2004 at KU Leuven. Her research interest is in sociology of biomedicine, science and technology studies, sociology of innovation, and social and political theory. She is working in the field of the social and political aspects of biomedicine and biomedical technologies. In 2013 Ine joined the Centre for Sociological Research (CeSO) at KU Leuven where she runs the Life Sciences & Society Lab.  She is a Member of the Young Academy (JA) of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts (KVAB). She is also the Coordinator of the Belgian Science, Technology & Society (B.STS) Network.
